For about 10 years I was captivated by wilderness landscapes and European architecture. I tried to describe my sensibilities during that period like this: “I look for richly lighted landscape elements that (except for the scents and insect buzzes) make the wilderness sort of portable. In the city I’m drawn toward windows and doorways and dark shadows that seem to lead somewhere beneath the surface.” Well, okay, maybe that was a little melodramatic. These days, in order to keep my hands on a camera between long-distance excursions, I’ve expanded into commercial/people-related types of shoots (http://rogersteen.com).
