The Farm's A Very Lonesome Sight

the hogs they are a squealin’
cause they miss you so
the cows won’t give milk
the corn it won’t grow
the tractor she won’t move
it’s a dreadful fright
and now the farm’s a very lonesome sight

the old brass bed don’t squeak
the way it used to do
my biscuits turn out black
my grits are hard to chew
the well it has run dry
it just don’t seem right
and now the farm’s a very lonesome sight

the city’s smog has covered up
the old country moon
my rooster ran away
my banjo it won’t tune
they busted up my still
ain’t no whiskey tonight
and now the farm’s a very lonesome sight

and now there’s cobwebs in the corner
where we used to fight
there’s dust on the pillow
where you put your head at night
I thought that you was foolin’
when you said that you was movin’
and now the farm’s a very lonesome sight

Artist's Description

SORRY FRIENDS!! Had to lighten up a bit and throw down some lines of real hokey, tear jerkin’, dye in the wool, heart breakin’ country style lyrics just for the fun of it. So remember – read it with a real slow southern drawl and get out a hanky. This poor guy’s life is in the outhouse.
