My son, my son where are you off to?
I am off to gain the world father,
and to claim it for myself.
To you my son, some advice and thought
for your travels, then hurry on your way.
Where are your shoes my son, do you not
know the roads are rough? Rocky with
hidden dangers they are, and conquered
not with ease. Yes, shoes you will need
for your travels my son, shoes unyielding
to the roads favorite tricks.
Is your hat not with you, for that is also
in need. For you see my son, the
world will cast upon your head the many
elements that will entice you with their many
visions and dreams. A hat would be wise
my son, a hat would be wise.
What have you stored away for food to keep
you on the way, my son? Many foods you
will find and many of poison pleasure.
Keep strong my son, and take in not that
which is bad for your body and mind. Take
food that will remain my son, and change it
not for the lesser.
And my son, what have you for your faith
if opposition comes your way? A rod is good
only until it is broken. I will ask God for your
safety my son, for He will follow you and
befriend you when the path is dark. Trust Him
my son, the world is waiting for you.
And when your travels are over and the world
is yours, come back my son. For with open
arms I will greet you and welcome you home.
So go and hurry on your way, for the day will
be at its peak soon. And remember, my love
will be with you always my son, my love will
be with you always.
My father raised me then let me go.
I learned from his wisdom; he will
always be my hero. My two sons
are now young men and are in charge
of their lives. I pray I have done my job
well…so far so good.
