When i paint a landscape I always create a piece of music to accompany it on the piano and embroider it with orchestration, I have a web site on icompositions under rogerboreham with a wide range of stylistic compositions from pop to classical, I am writing a film script and score for my comedy thriller musical comedy based on the adventures of robinhood and the jade princess…. I;m happy in any medium as long as it gets the job done but my most used mediums are watercolour and acrylic …… I do like oil and will use it if commissioned and the client pays for my materials..

Love most styles of painting as long as its quality especially monet / turner colours and quality renaisance artists. Abstract painters ( not all ) leave me confused,

I was recognised as an artist and hung in the Archibald and Mosman in 2008. Previously I had painted several prominant Australians including Murray Gleeson when he was the chief high justice of Australia through recommendation. Last year Glen Wheatley…John Farnhams manager sat for me. Lovely man, he was pleased with the result but it didn’t get in
This year I am painting three of my teachers at Eora for the Archibald.

When I paint a portrait or landscape I always imagine the colour and size of the wall its going to hang on, Then …

1. I measure up the client or the colours of the subject matter,
2. I paint the negative space ( the background behind the subject)
3. I paint the shadows ( I use a lot of colours)
4. I establish and paint the tones that echo the shape of object,
5. I paint detail such as hair or trees or the focal point
6. I paint the highlights. fiinishing off with white
7. I try to ensure that every area of the painting has a movement and change of colour so that the painting looks interesting, and that there is an good focal point using the golden mean.

As with art and music and all the other skills I have obtained through life I believe that hard work is the only way to achieve personal satisfaction.

I do believe that the best art is created in the zone.
