Sorry I’ve not been around much lately but health reasons have kept me indoors most of the Winter, hopefully things are going to improve with Spring coming soon.
Porthcurno is an idyllic beach of golden sand sheltered by the cliffs on either side and only a few miles from Land’s End on Cornwall’s South coast.
As well as the beautiful beach, Porthcurno has a strong history of telecommunications, under the beach lies the submarine cables that connects the UK to the rest of the World, Marconi also used it for his first cable messages and a most interesting museum of telecommunications is worth a visit, only a few hundred yards from the beach. When the cable company re-located to Coventry, they gifted the beach and adjoining cliffs to the NATIONAL TRUST
The adjoining open air cliff top Minack Theatre is also very much worth visiting.
This was taken in May 2009, during my last holiday in Cornwall, aother one to look forward to this coming May.
