I can’t wait Rod….I walked 4 miles today too…along our local canal. So I’m getting in practise for all the walking and climbing and of course hoping that September the 5th will be a happier day this year than last year…...lol

Superb capture Rod! Stuuning views from up there – is that just above the Rugglestone Inn (great pub!) – the inclusion of the sheherdess adds very well to the patchwork of fields :)

This is a wonderful image Rod, the shepherdess and her working dog are a wonderful foregound interest to that superb view and the beautiful church tower in the background adds another great dimension to the shot. A definate fave for me …

Just wonderful Rod. I have a painting of this very scene, minus shepherdess of course, handed down from my parents and hanging on our lounge wall. As a sales rep working out of Newton Abbot I used to have weekly calls at Widecombe, summer and winter alike and it’s always been high on our list of favourite places in the world. As a result there’s only one place for this shot of yours to go!!! Guess where! I’m surprised Chris allows you to go round chatting up stray shepherdesses like this though!! (I wanted to make a crack about a crook but will leave that to Don) How is Chris by the way? I’ve been thinking and wondering. All best wishes, Peter

I must tell you a little story about Widecombe. The ancient post mistress back in the 1960’s was a Miss Harvey, who also happened to be the ancient organist in the Church! I don’t know whether she had a crush on the vicar of the day or not but shall never forget her telling me that he had got himself married. “The dirty old man – I would never have thought it of him!!” was the way she described the happy event! LOL Peter

I love this portrait of the Shepherdess Rod. It is a beautiful view. What a wonderful way of life she has, so relaxed and natural she is. And her dog is beautiful!

Oh to be in England…this scene brings back many memories, I remember the Dartmoor ponies….....You have beaten me to it, I have wanted for ages to take a shot of the Shepherds we have locally, we have quite a few flocks of sheep, that roam all over the place but I have yet to get a photo of a shepherd they are such characters.
