Mullion Cove Seascape
Mullion Cove is situated below the village of Mullion on the West coast of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. The little harbour is owned and maintained by the National Trust, this is the view I managed by climbing along the rocks at the end of the harbour wall and looking out between the rocks to the sea during my recent holiday.
Even on a fine day like this, the sea was quite choppy but I loved the aqua marine tones of it in the sunshine, I certainly would never attempt to get to my vantage point when the sea wasn’t so calm, the Atlantic waves crash off these rocks spectacularly at times.

So incredibly beautiful Rod!! I can smell the salt in the air!!
I just googled Mullion Cove, to learn a little more, and came up with this page. It’s as though I’m an onlooker now, seeing your there, with your camera in hand. Love it!! :-))
rodsfotos replied
Thanks so much again Robyn, yes as you look at that Web photo, in the top left corner of the harbour, I climbed on to the rocks from the harbour wall looking out to sea between the rocks, my it’s a small world,

georgieboy98
I have stood on that exact spot would you believe, but it was flat calm with not a trace of sun!. Once again you have come up trumps and made a beautiful rendition of what was a gorgeous scene to begin with. The yellow of the foreground rock was an inspired inclusion and this has GOT to be a fave! Superb, old friend. Peter
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much again Peter, the yellow lichen on the rocks does give them a bit of a contrast lift, I just love the colour of the water there on a fine Summer’s day like this.
It was so good to see nothing had changed since my last visit there some years ago, even the honesty box in the car park asking for 40 pence was a pleasant surprise compared to the £3 or £4 that you have to pay to stop for a short time at other places, a refreshing step back in time in many ways,
Regards, Rod.

This is a clever perspective on this cove, Rod. My mother has spoken with some awe of Mullion Cove and how wild it can be (she grew up in Plymouth before marrying an Aussie). Great to see it in the gorgeous sunny weather with the crystal blue water.
rodsfotos replied
It can indeed be very stormy and treacherous around this area Bevan, it was good to be there on a calm sunny Summer’s day and see it in a more idyllic state, thanks so much my friend,

rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much Tai, you are so right about this being so typical of the Cornwall we both love, I climbed round the rocks from the harbour wall at Mullion to get this one, most times the waves wouldn’t allow me to get there,
Regards, Rod.
TFFDavid
It looks absolutely amazing there Rod.
The water looks lovely, nothing at all like the sea off the north east coast.
Good work my friend :-)
rodsfotos replied
Many thanks again David, the sea often takes on green colours graduating to deep blue further out off the Cornish coast, it does look attractive in the Summer sunshine, I’m told it’s due to the sand being almost white underneath it,
Regards, Rod.
Lois Bryan
... sigh … I don’t think I realized you had a D300 … have been drooling over them on the internet and in camera shops (they won’t let me in anymore … messy thing that I am) ... but I’m sure your expertise had more to do with the magic presented here than any little black box. STUNNING detail … and the colors … I don’t think I knew my eyes could even REGISTER the RANGE of the tones and hues you’ve presented here!!!!!!! Oh, Rod … if i could swim better, i think I’d just jump in the Atlantic and make my way to this spot in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you so much Lois, yes I got the D300 at the end of last Summer but didn’t use it much till this Spring.
This is a beautiful little cove with an adjoining harbour owned and maintained by the National Trust, first time I’d been here in a few years but it won’t be so long before I go back there,
Regards, Rod.
Karen Tillotson
