Polperro Harbour, Cornwall
I never tire of visiting this beautiful old fishing harbour on Cornwall’s South coast, nothing seems to have changed there in the many years I’ve been visiting it, the old fishermen’s cottages surrounding the harbour are full of old world charm and the narrow cobbled streets are too narrow for cars, the perfect place to get away from the pressure of modern city and busy town life.

Beautiful image that brings back many happy memories…. You could still drive your car through the village when I first went there!
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much Karen, visitors now use the large car park at the top of the village and there is a regular service of small converted electric milk delivery vehicles ferrying people down to the village, it makes the harbour area so much more peaceful without cars,
Regards, Rod.
Clark Thompson
This is a very nice blend of old and new. Some of these buildings look two or three hundred years old. It is interesting to note the solar energy panels. There is certainly a lot to see here. Very nice composition, Rod.

Rachel Stickney
Rod, I agree with all that’s already been said! Your photographs are beyond beautiful! They are all so perfect! They make me want to visit England again very soon. I need to quit buying camera gear and save up for a trip! My English mum visits her family over there every year (Wellingborough, Northamptonshire), but I haven’t been to my birthplace since 2004. I am definitely overdue. I can’t wait to see beautiful England again. Maybe I can visit Cornwall this time.
rodsfotos replied
Hi Rachel, thank-you very much indeed, I wouldn’t suggest stopping buying camera equipment but it would be wonderful if you could make a visit across the giant pond soon and hopefully take Cornwall in at the same time,
Regards, Rod.

Awesome! Just love Polperro. The name of the place is wonderful and it puts me in mind of Treasure Island for some reason. Our Submarine’s adopted UK town, we had some wonderful visits to the British Legion here and the locals came up to Plymouth to visit the sub. Thanks for reviving old memories. Beautiful capture! Don.
rodsfotos replied
Thanks so much Don, they chose a great little town to name your submarine after, I love it there, so pleased it brought the memories flooding back,

Another beautiful, and interest-packed image from you Rod. You never fail to shoot from the best possible aspects. This is just gorgeous, and the true bonus for me here, is being able to see so many blue doors framed by the white stonework. I have a thing for them! lolol! Found one in Arrowtown in NZ, and thought I’d struck gold.
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much Robyn, had to smile at your love of blue doors against white walls, will have to see if I can find a few more for you this year, it seemed to be a traditional colour scheme for so many of the old cottages in these Westcountry fishing villages,
Regards, Rod.

Do you still have to park your car at the top and walk down to the harbour?....this is the prettiest of places and we spent many a happy hour there….you have captured it perfectly…..great shot Rod….j:)
rodsfotos replied
Many thanks again Jacquei, yes you do park the car above the village and if you don’t feel like walking, there is a horse drawn bus or a number of little converted electric milk delivery trucks which each carry about 8 people up and down to the village from the car park.
I have another photo of the harbour on RB that is amongst the earlier ones that I submitted and will probably add more in time,
