The Poppy Bank

A friend has a large garden and always plants a steep bank of poppies at the end of it.

I took quite a number of photographs of them a couple of years ago, this one was with the tripod set low and looking up at them and chose a very small aperture to get as much detail as possible.

F32 for 1/40sec
Tamron SP90 1 : 1 macro lens

    I love the angle at which you have taken this and the detail that shows – especially in the larger one – is quite wonderful. The colour contrast against that blue West Australian sky (!!) is quite superb.     Oh, Rod!!!!! What an extraordinary image!! I LOVE poppies … we used to grow them, but had them in a bed near our black walnut trees. At the time we weren’t aware of how toxic those things can be to what’s trying to grow underneath. I’d like to try growing them again … such wonderful petal texture … and you’ve snapped the world’s greatest color!!!!! Beautiful … had to fav it!!!!
