What, no boats!!! LOL This has long been one of my favourite shots of yours and it’s amazing how much better they reproduce on here than in the other place! Viewing this larger brings out a lot more detail, too. I am sending you a bubblemail in a few minutes by the way. Peter

OOO!!! I don’t remember seeing this beauty before!!!! Did you wrangle this swan away from Lynnie??? is that how she REEEEALLY fell down??? LOL!!! Gorgeous … heavens … timing really IS everything isn’t it??? Once again, and I know … the filter … but I really admire your extraordinary detail work, and your brilliant color!!! May I ask … do you usually drag around a tripod??? <~ hate the bloomin’ things, but they do have their good points, mainly being, a crisper image!!
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you so much Lois, I took this one last year at the Lake District, there always seems to be a few swans gliding on this corner of the lake in the early morning.
There was three or four this year when I was there but the light was too contrasty to make it work as satisfactorily as this one.
Yes,Polarizer and Yes,a tripod at all times, plus a spirit level on the hotshoe to get it level, quite mechanical at times but it saves trying to rescue them in PS later,
Regards, Rod.
Lois Bryan
I’m going to root around in the sofa cushions tomorrow and head myself over to the photog shop for polarizer filters for each of my lenses!!!!!!! As to the tripod, hmmm … I’ll have to give that more thought. I hate those things!! But I can’t deny that they do wonders!!!

A wonderful capture Rod, the lake is very pretty and the reflections are really great. A beautiful composed shot with that gracious swan in the foreground ,it adds to the beauty of this lovely scene. My best regards,Henri.
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much Henri, I am told the old boathouse was sold for an enormous sum of money (over £400,000) as a holiday home and has had quite a bit of renovation work done on it since I was there, it would be interesting to see how it looks now,
Regards, Rod.

I will have to search this spot out at Easter
rodsfotos replied
Thanks so much Mike, it’s easy to find, as you leave Poolley Bridge to make your way alongside Ullswater, it’s on your left and there is a pull in next to it, I believe the Boathouse has had a bit of a facelift since I was there,
Regards, Rod.

Tainia Finlay
Breathtaking image Rod (just tried to fave it 5 times)!! It’s gorgeous the reflections, colours POV all brilliant!! Well worth the early morning call :D Kind regards, Tai
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much Tai, I had arrived at the Lake District shortly after 6am and too early for my holiday accommodation so I went a few miles on to Ullswater and it was so still with perfect reflections, so the camera did have to come out,
Regards, Rod.
CarolM
The water is so, so still. Once again you have captured some pleasing reflections and the swan is a great element of interest. Rich saturated color and well composed.
rodsfotos replied
Thank-you very much Carol, I am told the boathouse in this scene was remodeled and sold for well over £400,000, a definite case of location dictating the price,
Regards, Rod.
