Situated on the village green and close to the war memorial at Monyash in Derbyshire, England, stands the Village Cross. The base of the cross dates back to circa 1340, when a charter to hold a weekly market was granted to Monyash. A wooden cross is thought to have been attached to the top of the stone shaft.

Welcome to the new group ‘Around The Peak District’ and thanks for joining.

The idea is to show the Peaks and their surrounding area off and hopefully you will add works to do just that.

Please feel free to invite others or to offer suggestions.

I must have passed this on numerous times without thinking to stop. Nice shot.

  • Many thanks David.

The Peak District is one of my favourite areas.
