It's good to be domesticated

This is a casein on canvas paper painting. It is a picture of a woman who works for others. She reminds me of my grandmother who spent most of her life working in white people’s homes cleaning and cooking.

It's good to be domesticated belongs to the following groups:

This is a great piece. The woman’s facial expression is most intriguing—like someone who was used to having to keep her thoughts to herself. Love it.

    The characterisation/drawing/proportions/colours all are fantastic.

I especially like this portrait; to me, it seems to contain feelings which do run really ‘deep’; as you mentioned it’s of your mum.

Judging from looking at your other portraits; I can see that you do these most incredibly well. In my view and, I’m not kidding you are a GREAT modern day talent! ;-)

Hi Rochele, I just saw all the work that you favored and that led me to look at a few new portfolios…..WOW….great stuff, glad I saw it by way of you. But I am hoping to see you do more work also. I LOVE your work and I hope all is well with you. Until then I thought I would come back and comment on many of the pieces I hadn’t so far. THIS IS WONDERFUL. I love the soft muted tones of the back ground and I LOVE the reflection of the green wall as it blends into her apron. Your really do an excellent job!
