I started photographing clouds in middle school, so that the skies in my paintings would be more realistic, but the new medium soon dominated my focus.
I double-majored in film and mathematics at Vassar College. To earn my Master of Fine Arts, I attended Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts. After graduation, I spent a few years working on independent films as a gaffer and cinematographer in Los Angeles.
Moving from one coast to the other and back has given me cherished opportunities to photograph at sites across the United States. At home, geometry in shadows, fragments of architecture, and textures in nature draw my eye.
