One of the small rooms in the Lewis & Clark Caverns, near Whitehall, Montana (USA). Although these caverns were never seen by the Lewis & Clark Expedition, they were given the name because they overlook 50 miles of the Lewis & Clark Trail.

Photo taken September 3, 2011 with a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS camera. Sharpening was done in IrfanView. Because of the small size of the caverns and the time limit on the tour, they don’t encourage the use of tripods. Taking low light photos without one leaves the images looking blurry. I would recommend taking along one of those quick collapsible, cheaper tripods.

Last time I went through the caverns, I seem to recall having to crawl through some pretty small holes—no room for a tripod. But then maybe the holes just seemed small given my size. In any case, this is a wonderful shot from the inside.

  • Thanks, Bryan! It wasn’t just you. I’m only 5’2" and I bumped my head a few times.
