I always hate uploading sunset pictures taken in our neighborhood because the houses make a really boring foreground. Unfortunately, the most spectacular sunsets only seem to happen when I’m at home. Whenever I take the camera to a beautiful place, we end up with a blue and white sky for sunset.
Maybe it’s because I usually don’t go anywhere when it’s stormy and the storm clouds bring us the best sunset colors.
[*EDIT: August 2, 2011] Brian just pointed something out to me tonight. He and Jimmy measured the angle of the sunset from where I was standing when I took this picture, and it set due northwest. They said that the sun rose this morning in the northeast, something that we’ve never seen before. I usually rises over Columbia Mountain, which is due east of us, but it is now rising over Teakettle, to the northeast. He found some videos on youtube where people have been talking about the sun rising in the northeast also, but nobody seems to know why this is happening.
