June is my favorite time of year to go out camping because we have fields full of wild strawberries that are ripe. They are too tiny to be able to harvest for pies and other desserts, but delicious to eat fresh. They have a stronger flavor than the strawberries you find in the stores.

You can find wild strawberries growing just about anywhere where there is plenty of water. Look for the tiny white flowers and roundish green leaves along the ground. The tiny strawberries grow on vines. You have to watch your step to keep from squashing them.
