This was made three years ago, in UltraFractal 5, from a standard Julia, and reworked recently in Photoshop CS. The first thing I did was take off the frame. Then I enhanced the colors and used layer styles to emboss the detail.

This is inspired by the Merlin Trilogy by Mary Stewart, in which Merlin sees a vision of the birth of a dragon to save England from her enemies and unite all its kingdoms into one country. He was seeing the birth of Arthur Pendragon, known to the world as King Arthur. Arthur’s father, Uther, was represented by a red dragon, but Arthur was more often associated with a white dragon. I modified the colors here to orange and ice blue because they looked better.
