This was taken on my May Day walk, celebrating the first day of sunshine in a week. It doesn’t look sunny here, but we had patches of blue sky and no snow which was wonderful. The trees were still bare, but they are starting to bud out this weekend. These farms are about a half mile walk from our home.

The mountains in the background are the Whitefish Range, with Big Mountain on the left. You can see the slopes of the famous ski resort behind the trees. My mother-in-law always told me to wait until the snow was completely melted on Big Mountain before planting the garden. This usually means waiting until June 1, but the weather forecast is for snow to last until the beginning of July.

Photo taken May 1, 2011 in Columbia Falls, Montana (USA) with a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS camera. This was enhanced in Photoshop CS, including the use of the Topaz Detail filter to give a painted look to the image.

Great shot of your lovely walk Kathleen. I especially like the contrasting horizontal rows of meadow, tree line, snow covered slopes, light and dark cloud. Tony:)
