Original fractal rendered in UltraFractal 5. I used Photoshop CS to solarize the image and added ripples using Redfield Water Ripples plugin. I also added several layers of water drops and created the butterfly, using a different fractal for the coloring.

The “Butterfly Effect” is a term used in Complexity Theory (Chaos Theory) to describe the way that small changes, like a butterfly flapping its wings or a drop of water, can create ripple effects that spread outward and cause unpredictable changes to other things.
