12/12/10 – Featured in the ALONG THE RURAL ROAD Group.

This is the First Bible Presbyterian Church, located in the old section of Kalispell, Montana (USA). Since most of the homes in the Kalispell Historic District were built in the 1880’s, this church is a relative newcomer, established in 1953.

I’m thinking of entering this in the Places of Worship challenge in The World As We See It group. I already entered a different shot of this church, but I like the sunset in this image. Which one do you think I should enter?

Photo taken November 26 in Kalispell, Montana with a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS camera. I enhanced the photo in Photoshop CS, to bring out the contrast and remove the graininess in the sky, by selecting the sky and adding a gaussian blur to it.

This is the other shot of this church, which I entered in the challenge:

Lovely image! & the colors of the sky! WOW!!! :o)

  • Thank you very much! I have trouble being at the right place whenever there is a beautiful sunset. I’m usually at home, surrounded by apartment buildings, or at a shopping mall.

Kathleen, both of your photo’s are stunning, however I will go with your fist selection for the challenge – it is clear crisp & appealing to the eye.
2nd take – the sunset is stunning behind the church, however the branch infront of the building, is very distracting.
    That is my humble thoughts!:)x

  • Thank you for letting me know. I like to have somebody else look at my work with a fresh eye. After looking at these photos for so long, I love that objectivity. Usually, my husband does the critiques for me, but he’s away from home right now, so I really appreciate your help.

Gorgeous capture Kathleen. I wonder how many people remember that wonderful old song now.

  • Thanks, Bunny! I don’t know, but I’m probably showing my age by using that title. I even remember singing it. It’s hard to find a group where those old hymns are still sung, but I love to play them on the piano. The thing that was nice about singing the old classics is that I could remember the words.

Nice sky in this one, but I prefer the other on the whole.

  • Thanks, Trish! I agree with you. I think the composition and lighting are better on the other one.
