As the warm colors of Fall are giving way to the icy cool colors of Winter, people are starting to put up their Christmas lights. It’s a breathtaking sight once the snow has covered the trees and shrubbery. In the evening, the lights glow, underneath the snow, giving the snow a luminescent rainbow effect. Montanans tend to keep their holiday lights up until the snow finally melts in late May. It’s something to help keep our spirits up through the long dark and cold months ahead.
When our sons were little, we used to go for a drive around the valley to see the Christmas decorations. There is one home, near here, where the owners add something to their light display, every day, until Christmas Eve, when it looks like Santa’s workshop. Last year Shaun drove Ann around to see the holiday lights. He loved seeing her reactions to them. Ann has never lost the sense of looking at the world and life the way a little child does. Everything is new and wonderful to her and that joy is infectious.
Here is wishing you all a holiday filled with beauty and love and that you can recapture the wonder of Christmas, as seen through the eyes of a child!
