Jimmy’s son, Andrew, celebrated his first birthday last Sunday. Jimmy and Andrew’s mom went all out with the party. They rented the Senior Citizens’ Center, filled it with 100 balloons and bought a made to order cake with a Buzz Lightyear on top that lit up and talked. They also had a smaller, personalized, cake made for him to make a mess with. They brought a huge ball for everyone to write birthday wishes on, with the idea of saving it for him to have when he’s older.
When it was time for Andrew to open all his presents, all he was interested in were the ball and the balloons. He was very upset whenever someone pulled him away from them to open the presents. That’s one of the wonderful things about babies. They aren’t concerned with how much money you spend. Andrew is just as excited about an empty candy wrapper or clothes basket.
