3/15/11 – Featured in the LIFE IN THE CITY, SUBURBS OR BUSH Group.

A couple of the many deer that we found wandering in the streets of Port Townsend, Washington (USA). This community is among the loveliest places that we’ve lived. The deer made it perfect. Unfortunately, one of the homeowners chased them off with a broom while we were photographing them. I don’t know whether he was offended by the deer, or the fact that we “tourists” had stopped to take pictures of them.

Photo taken in September, 2010 with a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS camera.

Oh, they are so beautiful! We don’t chase them away here. We welcome them. They are so precious. Great shot!

  • Thank you very much!

How lovely! I would be thrilled to have deer in my garden, so what if they eat a few flowers!

  • Thanks, Shulie! I wouldn’t mind having them in our yard either. I can understand, when people have vegetable gardens or fruit trees, but there isn’t much that the deer can do to hurt someone’s lawn. The guy that ran the deer off didn’t even have flowers in his yard.

FABULOUS capture!!!!! … I am sure the homeowner has had much landscaping eaten by them, as they love to do that… but they are soooo very beautiful… Love looking into their eyes… We have many around us, and they are welcome to whatever we have for them to eat!!!!!! I always feel so blessed to be in their presence… LOL

  • Thank you! Yes, deer can be pests for homeowners, especially when they have gardens or orchards. The deer around here wreak havoc in peoples’ gardens.

Had you not had this on here before I so remember commenting on it! Just love that they can just be there in town. Hate that they get chased off but they do eat gardens.

  • You have a much better memory than I do. I had forgotten that I uploaded another photo of these deer. I just added it to my comments. Thanks for the reminder!

    gorgeous!

  • Thanks! I wish we had deer in our neighborhood. I miss the deer we had when we lived out of town, but I don’t miss the bear or mountain lions.
