This is my son, Shaun, doing what he loves most (yes, even more than taking photographs). This was taken during our camping trip to Great Northern Flats, along the Northfork of the Flathead River in northwest Montana (USA). Shaun waded across the river to the Glacier National Park side to fish. Since I couldn’t sleep, I was able to get this rare sunrise photo, just as the sun was peeking over the mountain.
I’ve never understood the fun in catching fish and throwing them back in the river, but Shaun spends one of his two days off, every week, doing this. His relatively new bride understands that Shaun needs this time and is willing to share him with the river. At least he doesn’t spend time away from her watching football.
I just noticed that the full view of this shows the fishing line in three different spots as he was casting it.
Taken in August, 2010 with a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS camera. I’m entering this in the People in the Great Outdoors challenge in the Pacific Northwest group.
