We took a quick trip out to Port Townsend, Washington, last weekend to see my mother, who has Parkinson’s disease. We only had three days, and two of them were spent driving. On the way home, I was worried about my husband, who was home alone for the day because the two sons who had been watching him had to leave town on a construction job. I was worried about whether we would get another chance to go back and see my mom. Shaun spotted this beautiful double rainbow as we neared Ritzville, Washington (USA). It seemed like a sign to reassure me that everything would be alright.
Ann and I tried several shots out the car window, which all turned out badly. Fortunately, we spotted a rest stop and convinced Shaun that we would save time by stopping there instead of trying to find a bathroom in Spokane.
The rainbow is a symbol of God’s promise to Noah that the world would never again be destroyed by flooding. It has been embraced as a symbol of hope by people all over the world.
