This is Rachia and Meechia, two of my granddaughters. They are sisters in spirit, as well as by blood. I’m uploading this for the Brotherhood challenge, hosted by the Inspired Art group.

OK. This is more like sisterhood, but I think our family represents brotherhood, in the same way that many other American families do. These girls have relatives who are English, German, African American, Cherokee, Sioux, Apache, Northern and Southern Irish, French, Indian (from Mumbai) and Danish. Our family is represented by many faiths: New Age, Catholic, conservative and liberal Protestants, Hindu, Jewish, agnostic. Two of their aunts are happily married to each other.

I think that our children represent the greatest hope for a future of tolerance between peoples, as long as they are given the freedom to decide for themselves. A couple generations ago, this kind of family blending seemed impossible, especially here, in Montana. As idealistic and naive as this may sound, love really does change the world.

I love your narrative, as I agree completely with this wonderful concept, the acceptance of differences and the blending of them. These girls repsent it well. :)

Mom, I think it is awesome that you are so loving that, even though they are not blood relatives, you still call them your grand children. This reminds me of the love that Christ has for us when he says we’re all brothers and sisters. You are an example of tolerance and acceptance that this world so desperately needs.

  • Well, I figured that Sherri is the only the person in the world who is going to give me granddaughters, since you and Jimmy keep turning out boys. If Jimmy is willing to adopt them, I am too. Shaun doesn’t understand that idea. The girls are adorable and you’re going to fall in love with them too.

  • Welcome to RedBubble too! It took me a while to figure out who weezy was. I just got up and my brain is still foggy. I’m excited to have you here! Dad is still scratching his head, trying to figure out how I knew your nickname.
