Artist's Description

Made entirely in UltraFractal 5, using its masking techniques. I originally made it for a contest on deviantart. I’m uploading it here for the Red, White and Blue challenge in the We Sell Art! group.
I realize that our country has taken a lot of flack in the news lately. We are a nation run by imperfect people who make bad decisions sometimes. When I think of my country, though, I think that our best quality is our people. My son recently came home after serving his second tour in Iraq. He doesn’t agree with the reasons that our leaders have for being over there, but he says that the soldiers are fighting for different purposes. They are helping the people of Iraq rebuild their government, their homes and their lives. What amazes me is that Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Agnostics, Hindus and Wiccans and soldiers of other religions are all fighting together and sacrificing their lives for people who are predominantly Muslim. Of course, there are also Muslims in our forces who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan too. In a world where people are killing each other over religious differences, their sacrifice stands out. They are working together to help people who have nothing to give them in return. This is the definition of true selflessness, and as long as there are still people like this in our country I will continue to love it.
