This is my cat, Tom Thumb, taking a nap in his usual position, with his back legs stretched out behind him. We only found out that my son’s neutered cat was the father because of this condition. Jimmy’s cat is the only other feline we’ve seen who can do this. Thumb just works himself forward, from his rear feet, and plops down. Usually, his rear legs stretch back in a straight line. When Thumb’s brother tries to do the same thing he tips over sideways.
The cat part of the photo hasn’t been tampered with, but I replaced the flooring because ours looks terrible. I adapted a fractal pattern I had, changed the perspective and added a tile texture in Photoshop CS.
I’m entering this in the Unusual Sleeping Positions challenge for the Domestic and Pedigree Cats group.
