This is the Essex Amtrak Station, that services Glacier National Park in Montana. Essex is the only flag stop (making stops only upon request) on the Empire Builder route, and was the ninth busiest stop in Montana in 2008. The Essex stop is used mostly by tourists coming to the Park. I think it dates back to the earliest days of the Park.
There is no station building. The platform is owned by the historic Izaac Walton Inn. (Information gathered from the wikipedia article here:
