Made in Ultra Fractal 5 from a standard Julia formula. This is inspired by Psalm 30:5.
I’ve been thinking, lately, about how hard the holiday season can be when we’ve lost loved ones. My aunt died of cancer a few years ago, right before Christmas, and a pall hung over our celebrations for years. Our son just lost his father-in-law to the same disease. We found, though, that there was still joy to be had in being surrounded by our loved ones. My prayers are that others who have suffered loss can find that same joy.
[EDIT 12/6/10 – I just updated this with a larger resolution render and enhanced it in Photoshop to bring out the colors. This Christmas season, as my husband is in the hospital in the ICU, and my daughter-in-law is suffering from a brain tumor, it brings to remembrance the losses of the past. I have to remind myself that difficult times always end and tomorrow will be brighter. As the Bible says, “Weeping may endure through the night, but joy comes in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5 ]
