Why I'm Not Around Right Now

I just wanted to let you all know why I haven’t been responding to comments lately. My husband, Chris, is in the Intensive Care Unit at the local hospital with a serious case of pneumonia. He almost died yesterday, so he could use your prayers and good thoughts. I’ve been going back and forth between home and the hospital and haven’t had much time for visiting RedBubble.

I am still uploading some images in order to put together some Christmas gifts to order in time. I appreciate your kind comments and faves and will get around to reading them all eventually, although I may not be able to comment back.

I also want to thank Jackie and Peggi, my cohosts in TBORB…DAP, for all the extra work they are doing in moderation while I’m gone. Thank you to Bunny, for taki…

Problem With Group Submissions

I just spent the last two and a half hours moderating images in “The Best of Red Bubble…Digital Art and Photography”, 12 pages of submissions. When I refreshed the page after I was done, to check for any new submissions, all 12 pages of submissions reappeared in moderation. I went to check the group’s main page and saw the same 12 images that I had finished moderating with last night. All that work that I did was for nothing. I didn’t see any other forum posts about this, so I don’t know if any other hosts have been having the same problem.

If you have been having problems with submitting your work to groups, this may be why. I urge all of you who are hosts of moderated groups to go back and check to see if the art you accepted is actually in the group …

Gerber Generations Photo Contest

Jimmy has entered his son, Andrew’s, photo in the Gerber Generations Photo Contest. The winner is determined by public voting, and will get a $25,000 college scholarship. If Andrew wins this, it will guarantee that he will be able to go to college. Since he’s already walking and talking at 12 months, I think it’s a good investment. Of course, all grandmothers think their grandkids are the smartest in the world. If you want to help with your votes, go to Gerber Generations Photo Contest

Enter Andrew’s ID number in the search box at the top left of the page – 177754

Click on the box that shows up and vote. You are allowed one vote per computer and email address per day until the contest closes at the end of the month.

The photo that was entered is from the same…

November is Host Appreciation Month

Jaclyn Hughes, wolfepaw and I have declared November “Host Appreciation Month”. Hosting takes up so much time that many hosts don’t have the time to do their artwork, enter challenges or concentrate on promoting their work. It’s time to let them know how much we appreciate their efforts to help and encourage us in our art.

We will be featuring hosts from other groups throughout the month in The Best of Red Bubble…Digital Art and Photography. We’ll be running a voucher challenge for hosts only, submitting homepage layouts of hosts’ art and doing journal features for them. I encourage all of you to join in. You can feature your favorite hosts in your own journal, write a thank you note in their group forum or just send them a bmail to tell them that you appreciate all thei…

October Features and Challenge Winners

I’ve decided to cut back on the number of feature journals by saving them up and posting a month at a time. This way my other posts won’t get lost among them.

Tutorial - Changing a Summer Photo into an Autumn Painting

We really don’t get Autumn colors in our area. For the most part, we’re surrounded by coniferous trees, so we just get the reddish brown coloring of larch needles in the Fall. They look more dead than like Autumn beauty. What deciduous trees we do have don’t have time to show their glory. By the time their leaves start to turn color, in late October, the snow falls and the leaves drop.

I decided that I would have to create my own Autumn image. I started with the original image (shown below). It’s a shot taken at the end of August in Woodland Park, located in Kalispell, Montana, with a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS camera.

The image is too dark, so I adjusted the levels, something I always check first, before doing anything with a photo. It’s hard to tell with the …

Just Got Back

Hi everybody! I just got back, early this morning, from our trip to the Seattle area. It rained and drizzled the entire time, but I did manage to get some good photos anyway. Shaun drove us home without any stops, except for gas, and I didn’t get to bed until this morning. Please bear with me. It’s going to take a couple days to catch up on my sleep and the housework that piled up while I was gone.

I wanted to upload one of my first photos from the trip, but I noticed that RB has temporarily disabled uploading. I’ll try again later.

A Sale!

I just found out that I sold a card, my “Dreams of Joy”, to an anonymous buyer! I want to thank whoever it was who bought it. I didn’t realize until today that it had been sold, but I truly appreciate the support.

It’s been a busy week for us. We’ve been gone for the weekend, to celebrate Shaun’s first wedding anniversary. It was like a family reunion. Uploading Problems

Has anyone else had problems uploading today? I’m trying to upload a photo for a challenge and I keep getting an error message. I’ve tried other images, just to check if there is a problem with the first one and the same thing happens. I check the Networking tab in my task manager and the network utilization is 0 percent. It works for anything else I try to do on this site, just not for uploading. I’ve tried different browsers and both the old and new uploaders.

It's a boy and a boy!

My daughter-in-law gave birth to two 4 1/2 pound boys on Friday. They were 7 weeks premature and will have to stay in the hospital for a month, but Kalispell has an excellent neonatal unit there and they are in good hands. I’ll be spending a lot of time away from my computer to be with them, but I’ll still be able to do the features with Bunny.

I’ll try to look through your work and fave it, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, but please don’t take my lack of comments to mean that I don’t appreciate it. I’ll only have a few minutes at a time to fave and run.

Happy Easter!

I want to wish all of you who celebrate it, a Happy Easter or Passover! To those who don’t, then a Happy Spring Break!

I went to the hospital last night, in severe pain, thinking that my appendix had burst. It turned out that I was passing a kidney stone. If the pain is that horrible for me, I can’t imagine what it would be like for a man to go through. Fortunately, the worst is over, at least painwise. I’m just exhausted. They gave me four shots of morphine, I.V. Then they sent me home with instructions to take ibuprofen for the pain. Personally, if ibuprofen actually worked that well for pain, most people wouldn’t be going to the emergency room.

I hope the weekend is a lot more pleasant for all of you and that you get to spend time with your families and loved on…

HELP! I'm not getting my comments.

Is anybody else having problems with their message center and comments? I’ve been getting the same comments in my message center for two days and it always says that they were made a couple minutes ago. I only found out one of my pieces had been featured because I clicked on it to see why there had been no comments made. Usually, I’ll get a couple comments, even on my less popular pieces.

It’s also telling me that there have been no new challenge events since yesterday morning, so either it’s not updating, or hosts have been unable to start any new challenges. If anybody else is having this problem, please let RB know, because I have seen no new comments in the Help forum either. All it shows are my comments from yesterday morning.

I’m not sure this journal …

HELP! Only some pictures load now.

Well, at least now I can see most of the images on RB. However, I still can’t enter any challenges because my own pictures will not load. I know this is another problem that the RB techs are working on. I hope it is fixed before it comes time for voting. I have some pictures that I made specifically for upcoming challenges, like the Easter art contest. Please let me know if you’ve heard of any solutions for this.

Thankfully, I’ll be able to pick my half of the Fractal Abstracts features tomorrow, and I can browse everyone’s galleries again.

I JUST TRIED TO PUBLISH ANOTHER JOURNAL ENTRY AND IT DOESN’T SHOW UP, so I’m adding it here. Last night’s journal entry didn’t show up either. Anyway, here’s the new one:

HELP! My Message Center Isn…

Pictures Won't Load on RB

For some reason, I, and several other people on RB, have been having trouble with pictures not loading, no matter what browser we use. I want to apologize to all of my friends here because I won’t be able to fave or comment on any of your new art. I also am unable to vote on all the challenges that are running.

If this problem keeps up, I’ll ask Bunny to do all the features for the Fractal Abstracts group, so there won’t be a problem there. I just hope this glitch gets fixed soon. It’s aggravating to not be able to browse through my favorite artists’ galleries!

Spammer and Thank yous

I got the weirdest comment a few days ago, on my Great Northern 3

“Hi
my name is Chansa, i was impressed when i saw your profile here at www.redbubble.com, and i believe we can have a long term relationship, please with humility and due respect i have for you i will like you to email me here at (Chansa199@yahoo.com) so i can send my photo and tell you more about my self
Waiting for your lovely responce
Miss Chansa”

I figured that, maybe, she thought I was Shaun, since both our names are listed on the rocamiadesign profile. If so, I’d just let Ann answer the message and kindly let her know that he is married.

Just for fun, I did a search of Chansa’s email address on Yahoo. I came up with several pages, where she/he left the same message for several people on different …

Spaying and Neutering

I was surprised, when my daughter-in-law showed up this afternoon. She had originally planned on getting one of our tom cats neutered for us. Thanks to the Northwest Montana Spay and Neuter taskforce, she and my son were able to take all of our cats, including three kittens, and have them fixed for free. There are three males and four females. Six of them are the offspring of a pregnant stray that we took in last year. Unfortunately, after her first litter was born, our (supposedly neutered) tomcat got her pregnant again. We joke about asking the vet who performed his surgery for child support.

The cats are all back home safely, though a bit wobbly from the anesthesia. I was afraid they were going to hate us, but they respond well to our petting and are eating the canned tuna I gave them.…

Roca Mia Design is adding an artist

I’m so pleased to let everybody know that we are adding another artist to this profile. My son, Shaun Emerson, started his own account at RedBubble, but being a newlywed and working 12 hour shifts, five days a week has limited the time he has to spend online. We decided, last night, to upload his work to this gallery, since he also works for Roca Mia Design, and sales go back into the business anyway.

Shaun is my photography teacher and I hope you enjoy his work as much as I do.

Homepage Feature!

My February was featured today on the RedBubble homepage! It was a complete surprise when I saw all the messages congratulating me. Thank-you very much to diLuisa for recommending it, and to all of you who have left such kind comments and added it to your favorites! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Help! Uploading Problems

Has anybody else been having problems uploading work since RedBubble changed servers? I’ve been trying to upload a 10mb file for over 40 minutes. It keeps saying that it’s uploading, but nothing is happening when I check my task manager. It says 0 percent of my internet is being used. I can go anywhere else on this website, but my file won’t upload.
