Artist's Description

Photography by Christopher Scafone, Retouch by Robyn Scafone.

The word Shanti means peace. With the mudra hand, the Yogi touches the person or object to be blessed (for instance, a plate of food) while mentally chanting, “Om, shanti, shanti, shanti”. The “bow” formed by the middle and index finger is referred to as “Govinda”. This posture within the mudra symbolizes that when the personality / Jupiter (index) finger is supported by the destiny / Saturn (middle) finger, the outward expression is one of individuality rather than ego.

Christopher and Robyn Scafone are the co-founders of Infinite Path Martial Arts, located in Traverse City, MI. Established in 2002.
