Fallen Asleep in Jesus , Menzies. West Australia by

This headstone is at the Menzies cemetary on the Goldfields of Western Australia.
When this young lady passed away in 1898 life would have been hard to say the least .
During summer the temperatures climb to the mid forties and the only water would have had to be brought in possibly by camels.
Shells are commenly seen on graves here and one can only wonder why!!!

I am a artist painting with Pastel, watercolour line and wash and pen and ink .
I am also passionate about photography and love to capture the wonders of this amazing world I am so fortunate to be a part of.

The pioneering days would have been so tough! This is a lovely capture of our history.

I come from a pioneering family, the relevance is simple re the shells, she loved the sea and that shell is about all you could get to Hell in Menzies in a pocket.
History is sometimes a reminder of just how lucky we are today. “Beautiful!”
