I really don’t understand my place in this life
Not involved, single, no sign of a wife
They have the nerve to ask why I look so mean
As I drink down some hot water from a dirty canteen
I’m a skilled soldier in so many ways
For the few shitty dollars this Army pays
Dig faster dig deeper rings in the back of my head
Some soldiers never sleep when they get into bed
Wake up, go back to sleep, INSPECTION TIME
Suck down that food and get back in line
I’m told to do things and I do them real well
When my squad leader checks it all looks like hell
If another war were to ever break out
I’ll carry the best weapon in my mind theres no doubt
I’ld search for the rascist the liar the cheater
I’ld turn around to find my squad leader
For all the pain, misery and the the blood that I’ve shed
I’ld shoot that squad leader until he was dead
It might not have reasons for some things that I do
But I’m sure he now knows I had feelings too

A SOLDIERS STORY
This was written way back in 1980 something. This is what just about EVERY SOLDIER goes through….....It’s called the mental anguish breaking point….....
