Magnetic City
Magnetic Termite Mounds, as they’re called due to their Nth/Sth. orientation to make the most of the days sunlight…Taken recently in Litchfield National Park, Northern Territory ~ Aus….Amazing to see the top end in the midst of their wet season. Oh so green and fresh…Darwin and the top end had recieved a crazy amount of rain in the weeks previous to our short stopover and the waterfalls were running wild…Another storm incomming in this shot…I think it’s just a standard daily occurance at this time of year…thanks for looking and comments always welcome…cheers, Rob.

What a great shot. The sky is amazing. It has so much dimension to it. The termite mounds remind me of petrified wood forests. Very cool.

This is a fantastic shot Robert. I just loved this place, one of my highlights of a 3 month trip. It was hot, dry and parched when I was there. This is a great contrast.

It is a special place isn’t it…I so loved the freshness of this time of year…although freakin muggy…I don’t think I’ve ever sweated so much…and that’s after weeks in Thailand..!!...thanks for your recent comments there Dharna…best regards, Rob.

So beautiful again, this and the previous shot. What a place. It must be desolated and/or protected, I’m surprised nobody’s bumped them over, unless the termites attack. Never saw anything like it, though I’ve seen ant mounds that get massive and bee colonies underground. This is amazing, the colors are so spectacular. I love this kind of weather where the greens shout out in the altered light.

Congrats, and no wonder this is the new avatar…this shot has everything in its favour…colour, light, balance. I love the way the perspective of the termite mounds disappearing into the distance is paralleled/counterbalanced with/by the incoming storm clouds. They appear to have almost the same vanishing point!
