Repairing the World

Last night, I heard about those 32 new planets that have been discovered. As soon as the newscaster finished giving the headline, his co-anchor/deskmate chirped: “Well, now we can move there!” I assumed she was joking. But who knows? Is that where we are, a completely disposable society? Buy a new toy, throw it out, buy another. Buy a new dress, throw it out, buy another? Use up the resources of a perfectly lovely planet, rip it to shreds, stomp on it and make it a mess…then whooooooooooosh off to another?

::sigh::

I’m wishing that we could be a little more responsible: Repair things. Renew things. Make the world better, not turn it into trash.
Anyway, this image is so many paintings and painted photoimages that I lost track at 7 layers. I think it looks like someone’s sewn a little patch on Earth. We can check out those new planets (it’s so cool that they’re “close”) but we really should be sure that the one we’re living on is in good shape, too.

    Fabulous work Rob … and I totally agree with you … we need to clean up our own backyard first before setting out to destroy yet another planet … and who says we will be able to survive on them anyway … different atmosphere, different energy, different vibration ... might not sustain human life as we know it!

    Wonderful, Robin. I appreciate your writing, too. While I’m all in favor for space exploration and even finding and making other worlds livable, I agree that our own must come first and foremost. Thankfully, there’s a lot of awareness, now; but the governments have not aligned yet with the populace on this. Until we push them to do so, we’ll continue to make a greater negative impact on our environment than is necessary.
