Dealey Plaza for those of you that don’t instantly recognise it.
I’ve been to Dallas many times and always resisted doing the “Tourist” thing but this time I thought I’d take a wander down there.
I’d read somewhere that to step into Dealey Plaza was to walk onto sacred ground, and certainly for me there was a moment of displacement, that feeling you get when you actually, physically exist in the same space as momentous historic events. Somehow the space seems too small for the magnitude of its history, but it is all there like a miniature model of all those images you’ve seen on telly and in magazines. To stand where ghostly figures stood and in this case to take in the view of “that window” in the Depository building and the cross that marks the spot! sent a shiver up my spine….this was, depending on your point of view, a very, very bad shot…or a remarkable one…for me it was a shot I’m glad I took and a place I’m glad I visited.
