It is indeed a cicada, I found one similar on Crete (it’s probably another specie though). There’s cicadaes everywhere on Crete during the summer time and they sing all day and night long. x)

Dog-day Cicada (Tibicen canicularis). You can tell by the green along the front edge of the wings.
