Wind Swept Poppies
Its some roadside Poppies. I saw these as I was driving along a country road last year & stopped to take a few pictures. They seem to Poppy up everywhere. Mind you the outside lane of the busy M725 is possibly not the best place to stop & take pictures. Its the only four lane motorway on the Island of Auchterchuchty. Which caused a lot of controversy with the locals when it was built.
The Island of Auchterchty is only two miles long & three miles wide at its respective widest points. The Islanders had applied for a grant to build a community Hall but this had been refused on the grounds that there wasn’t a suitable road infrastructure to deal with the increased traffic flow in the area. Instead funds were provided to fund the construction of the new Hyper Link Motorway. This would speed up the traffic flow from the Field on the west corner of the Island to the field in the north corner. All good & well but the only motorised vehicle on the island is the post ,masters moped & as your all aware mopeds are not allowed on motorways. The Chief Constable said if he caught the post master on the motorway he would have no choice but to revoke his driving licence. This in turn would have caused the Chief of Police huge problems as he is also the post master. In fact he’s the only resident on the island so you can see this would have put him at a great disadvantage. Daisy the only cow on the island still uses the bridal way to make the trip between the two fields & the Post master has handed in his notice in protest. If you ever get a chance to visit Auchterchuchty say hello & tell him Robin sent you. TTFN

Robin, This is a stunning photograph of roadside poppies. The vibrant color contrasting with the beautiful green is rich and creates a stunning composition. I love your story about the Island of Auchterchurchty. If you see the Daisy, please say hi since she is the only cow on the island :). Tell the postmaster not to protest or he will have the animal rights activists after him. She has a right to travel freely between two fields. He could be fired as the Chief of Police and the Postmaster that they are lucky to have a cow as their friend since they don’t every know that they are one person. Your humor is always delightful paired with these dazzling poppies. I see many faces two with open mouths probably protesting the Post master’s unfair treatment of Daisy.

A truly stunning capture of these poppies Robin. Composition and clarity is excellent and I just love the colours. Now about your story…..LOL! ... so wonderful Robin, made my day, and as drjMarks wrote above, you certainly have a great sense of humour. I look forward to more like this, as I am sure you have so much to tell!!! :)
