ACEO size, 2 1/2″ × 3 1/2" Winsor & Newton Artist Watercolor on 140lb watercolor paper.
Three pinkish saucer magnolia blossoms in increasing bloom stages grow from a crooked brown twig with little spring green leaves showing, exactly as they do on the KU campus in Lawrence, Kansas. These are the smaller saucer magnolias found in the North and Midwest, not the giant white Southern magnolias of New Orleans. The color of the blossoms is mixed with Burnt Sienna and a little Winsor Red as they were not a clear bright pink but a soft brownish pink. Painted at the same time as Two Magnolia Blossoms on the same paper, a Canson Montval cold press watercolor block.
