Robert A. Sloan is a disabled writer and artist living in Russellville, Arkansas with his odd brilliant daughter, big hairy Norse son in law, wonderful havoc-wreaking grandchildren, large Siberian Husky adolescent Zoe, big Black Lab/Australian Shepherd mix Ayla (The World’s Most Submissive Dog), daughter’s cat Gemini the Purring One and his beloved shaggy Siamese sidekick, Ari Cat. Ari sheds cat hairs of inspiration on anyone painting, drawing or writing, plus occasional Special Speckled Whiskers of Serendipity.
In addition to writing science fiction and fantasy, Robert loves writing about art, whether reviewing new art supplies or creating how-to articles at http://www.ehow.com where he’s built an impressive title collection of 90 articles. Currently creating a massive oil pastels website: www.explore-oil-pastels-with-robert-sloan.com has 75 pages at time of writing and will probably have over 200 when it’s complete.
Explore-Oil-Pastels has generated a passion for oil pastels as a medium, they can be used for fine detailed realism like colored pencils or wild colorful Impressionism like soft pastels. Robert joined the Oil Pastel Society shortly after discovering artist grade oil pastels — and then discovered there was no other comprehensive website with oil pastel instruction, reviews and articles so that gap became the topic for his long-planned art book. When the site is complete, he will make it available as an eBook and possibly create a print workbook as well.
