Slate Monuments

David Robinson

Huddersfield, United Kingdom

Artist's Description

When you arrive (nearly) at the top of Castle Crag and look around at the disused slate quarry there are about 20-30 slate ‘monuments’ that have been erected. No one seems to know why they are there, but they are both striking and eerie at the same time. A poignant reminder of the quarry men who made the daily trek up the fell.
