Do Not Fear Dying-

Coming to terms with my mortality,
I ponder the moments I defied death.
When car lights shot through me,
Exploding on impact, shattering shards,
Scattering debris that disintegrated,
Into the dawn like a reapers’ fatal breath,
Recoiling in my ear as a gentle whisper,
Saying with conviction and compassion,
“I will always be waiting”,
For the Right time to reach down,
With frail white fingers of bone,
To ensnare and liberate the spirit,
Which breathes energy inside of me,
Contained within my brain and spine,
That has now been cruelly crunched,
With ten times the force of gravity
By furiously fragile frozen hands,
Streaking like a scythe through flesh,
Tearing thinly woven tissues in All,
Muscles that constrict with constraint,
Compacting to generate, strength to conquer,
The hands piercing like daggers of defilement,
Through the very heart that pounds for Truth,
The pulse with purpose, extending to every limb,
Fracturing like the inspiration of lightning,
Compelling me, empowering me, reinforcing me,
Only to truly smile while eluding the “wait”.
I no longer fear the fatal hands that scar,
Knowing pain persists for the strong to feel,
And given care and time all wounds do heal,
Knowing the shadow of death never disappears,
His voice resounding always, calmly in our ears,
Reminding me, Do Not Fear Dying,
Seek comfort in the worth of living.

This piece came at an appropriate time for me, as we just lost my brother-in-law last week. He left my sister and three children in a tragic, unexpected accident. Excellent piece.

Robert, Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to me. Not too many people would take the time to respond to that from a stranger. Peace to you as well.

I love this work. All its graphic wreckage is brought to the soul untouched by the spirit of inevitable lessons born. Brave piece.

You are welcome. Sometimes the most difficult subjects that life imposes are the most necessary and important ones to confront, and to talk about. Hope you take care, and thank you for your support, also. Peace-

Thanks for all your thoughts and support. I think the struggles of life are only laid out before us to overcome and deal with. This is one of the most serious subjects of life, the other side, the antipode of life itself. Hope you take good care, Peace-

Thanks for your thoughts. This is a common literary device known as “alliteration”, and sometimes I try to incorporate an iambic rhythm. Thanks again for viewing, hope you take good care, Peace-
