Privilege and Prestige (Mixed Media Acrylics)- by

This work was produced with various materials and mediums on a piece of heavyweight white paper. I used one of my own photos of the Big Horn Sheep. I also used multiple textured fabrics for the suit and tie, and white charcoal to create the pin striped effect. The remaining drawing was produced with inks, and then I painted in the surrounding elements with layers of acrylics. This work is highly satirical and conveys the paradoxical elements of success, arrogance, and material consumption. There are multiple underlying emotions that are evoked when looking into the nuances of these notions within the piece. I really was amazed at the overall arrangements of the material (fabric), and was extremely satisfied with the end result of the work. Please refer to “The Queen of the Nile”, for a similar production process. The dimensions of this work are 23in. X 18in. It was created and finished in 2008.

This is terrific satire and very well drawn and coloured. (I think I know that guy.)

  • Thanks for your feedback. I think it has a powerful concept and was created in one of my more unique, stylized ways of painting. Take care, Peace-

I think I met that asshole at a bar up on D street, one time. Wanted to punch him right between the eyes.

    Great painting.

Hey Robert, awesome social commentary. It would be so interesting to know what sparked the thought processes for this.

  • There were many influential factors, that all just came together, and the actual production process is similar to some other pieces that I have done. Thanks for your comments. Hope you take good care, Peace-

your work calls me to story… it says ,,.. here is the Aries man,, perfect gentleman a mans man for sure… and the title suits him perfectly (like the suite he wears) however… just after a bit of summing you up he shows his horns and cracks a sheepish grin.. thus showing his true colors and he is left in his own world once again where privilege and prestige reign and he looks to the other side of the bar,… Next…
  • Thanks for you feedback and well-rounded analysis. There is a dichotomy of emotion expressed here which makes one consider the powers of social classes, the abuse of powers, and living in a materialistic environment. This work also pertains to self-realization and one’s own pursuit of “happiness”. Glad too hear your thoughts, take good care, Peace-
