Blood and Bone #2 (Mixed Material Assemblage)-
This is an abstract work that was comprised of fabrics, gesso, spray paints, and some acrylic paints and india ink. I started with the organization of various shapes and colors of textured fabrics. Some pieces were sewn together and other areas were merely pinned and glued (together or overlapped). Then I painted geometric areas with spray paints and gesso. After the gesso dried, I also painted in shapes with similar colors of acrylics, adding to the overall texture and echoing spaces for greater definition. Ink was also used, which absorbed into the fabrics, bringing the inherent textile texture to the surface. The original dimensions of the work are 24in. X 22in. It was initiated a few years ago and completed in 2008.

Thanks for your appreciation helene. This was all somewhat of an experiment… The painting and gesso on various textiles was extremely satisfying, like velvet painting. Take care, Peace-
