Artistic Touch (Drawing)-
This is a realistic drawing that was produced with a variety of graphite pencils on a heavyweight paper. I really enjoy the details in the center of my hand, the foreshortened fingers and the shadowing of each finger. I also found the tension and implied action of the thumb and middle finger to be very expressive (while shaping the sable brush). The dimensions of the original work are 18in. X 18in. It was created in 1999.

This is a beautiful drawing. You can just feel that the brush has just been run through the thumb and finger. I really admire your drawing talent. I have just scrapped through my first year TAFE drawing classes so I can appreciate what has gone into this drawing. Congrats and keep it up. P

Hi Robert – I love the tonal work here. I set myself a week of realistic drawing to reawaken some skills, and was getting a tired of it all, but this is a great reminder how subject matter is right there and that realism can be quite lovely in its own right. Love the folds on skin at the base of thumb.

Nice work Robert

Thanks for your compliment mufa. I have done realistic works, but prefer to express more conceptual notions through my paintings and add mixed media elements. I appreciate your input… Take good care pal, peace-

lovely drawing, twisted but awesome
Robert Dye replied
Thanks for your thoughts. Curious though, what makes it twisted? feel free to look over some more of my works. I appreciate your comments. Hope you take care, Peace-

youre welcome
i see it as twisted because of the mix of the skin and flesh
but that’s just me
i will definitely raid your portfolio work
cheers~

Of course technically this is excellent, but also it is really expressive and all captured in just a hand. It makes one think about how much can be seen in little things around us.

Thanks for the interest and deeper thoughts about the piece. You’re right about the amazing intricacy of seemingly simple subjects. Hope you take care, Peace-
