The Queen of the Nile (Mixed Media Acrylics)-

This is a mixed media painting that was produced on a piece of white heavyweight paper. I began this work a few years ago, by cutting a black monoprint on newsprint into sections and gluing them to the white paper. A figure formed from the positive and negative shapes of the monoprint. I then began drawing a few defining lines of subordinate subjects with ink. I then glued interesting gold and iridescent textile pieces to the work, which added texture, color, and form. After this I painted (with acrylics) the remaining spatial areas, also using a selective amount of gold and bronze metallic acrylic paints. I then refined some areas with ink again, (like the woven planters) and also glued real seashells to the work as accents (for her jewelry). Overall the piece conveys a cubistic feel, with interesting simplified forms, and a variety of patterns and textures which also help to express the Egyptian theme. I enjoyed relating a timeless subject that also contains elements of certain spiritual and philosophical beliefs. The original dimensions of the piece are 23in. X 18in. The initial monoprint and drawing work was established in 2005, and the remaining painted work was completed in 2008.

The Queen of the Nile (Mixed Media Acrylics)- belongs to the following groups:

1 on 1: The Fine Art of Portraiture, Complex Simplicity of Art, Abstract Realism, All Things Poetic, Prose, Philosophical., Altered Art, Art in Math, Cubism, DaDa Land, Fine Arts, Globes, Spheres and Curves, Mixed Media, Printmakers and Printmaking, SANATORIUM B, Something To Say, Spiritual Art, Symbolism in Art, The Artistic Nude and Vibrant and Vivid Color

That is very beautiful, Robert. I love the symbolism paired with the cubist design. I bet it looks great in person with those seashell accents!

Thanks for your encouraging thoughts. The original is quite tantalizing and I think I’ll produce more works by using fabrics, other papers, inks, and paints. Glad you enjoyed this… Take good care, Peace-
