Seeking Inspiration (Mixed Media Oils)-

This piece, produced with oil washes, colored pencils, and oil pastels, is a commentary on the intrinsic, artistic nature of human beings. It transgresses in an upward direction, playing on the senses and forms of communication of the artist (the mind, the mouth, the eyes, and ears). Also, there is a movement and use of symbiotic lines, and the echoing of shapes. The standing figure on the upper right portion is enveloped by white light which represents Inspiration. This work was created in 2001.

Thanks for the comments. Wondering what may be more disturbing? the red colors, the harsh linear qualities, or the deeper significance of spatial relationships. Is it disturbing to confront questions of human enlightenment? Maybe we are all a little disturbed… This, to me, in a paradoxical way becomes true and beautiful… I’d Like to here some more thoughts…

great job with the eyes i like eyes!

  • Robert Dye replied

Thanks again… I really enjoy how one is out of the socket, and resting (balancing) on the shoulder of another figure. Also most of the mouth and eye shapes which correspond are inherently intriguing… I have another separate work involving the mouth and ear that are related as one entitled “voice of reason”. Take care, Peace-

Wow Robert…i am glad that you changed around some of your works from your folio, it gives me a new chance to see different works i hadn’t really concentrated on before!....but this piece is WOW really…its like a piece of evolution from a bowed head to standing of a man…there are great grafics and detail, such as the eyes and the lips…i like how that was your means of incorporating…and the colors….just like all of you work, Great!!!

  • Robert Dye replied

Thanks for the great comments about this piece. It was somewhat of an epiphany for me (in style and expression of thought) when I created the work years ago… Take good care, Peace-

Thanks tori, There is a lot involved within the symbiotic line work. I took multiple shots, and this is the best photo that represents the original work. Glad that you like it. Take good care, Peace-

    LOOKS LIKE YOU FOUND SOME….

  • Robert Dye replied

Thanks paul, It comes and goes in waves. The hardest is actually capitalizing on inspirational moments, and producing all this is inside. Materializing the idea into something “real”, for others to see.
    Take good care, Peace-
