Abstract Nude at Night (Mixed Media)-

This work was created with a variety of materials on paper. I first painted simplified shapes of the laying figure with acrylics. Then I expressively layered pastels which added a textural quality. I used india ink to create some abstract outlines, and repetitions of line. Then the whole work was sprayed with a light layer of spray paint, which varied the tones and coloration of existing paint and pastel. I like the overall contrasting composition, the extreme colors, and the ambiguity of shapes within the form. The dimensions of the work are 17in. X 21.5in. It was completed in 2008.
