Photo of Fortuna Bay, South Georgia Island. (54° 07’S 36° 48’W).
The peaks in the middle of the photo rise to over 2000 meters above sea level.
During November 2007, a group of us landed on this beach and retraced the final leg of Shackleton’s 1916 epic crossing of South Georgia Island. The Shackleton saga is one of the true epic stories of human endurance and courage.
An unforgettable experience.
